I set up the site on GitHub Pages, but HTTPS would not provision. Namecheap still had a URL redirect from @ to www.usemosey.app. It looked harmless, but it made the root domain resolve through an extra IP.
Removing the redirect, confirming that only GitHub’s four A records remained, and re-adding the custom domain in GitHub Pages fixed it.
Future reminder: URL redirects can silently interfere with GitHub Pages HTTPS, even when the visible DNS records look correct.
Mosey is not about closing rings faster than somebody else. It is a small invitation to put on a good story and go somewhere on foot.
The name now matches that idea, and the app has a home at heymosey.app.
Most fitness apps can infer where you live because every route begins at your door. Mosey does not request location permission at all.
Mosey only needs step count and cadence to make playback responsive. Those signals stay on the device. There is no route to upload because no route is ever recorded.
The first complete loop is running: the pedometer feeds the playback state machine, which fades the podcast in when motion begins and out after a short grace period when motion stops.
Traffic lights stay forgiving. Treadmills work because the system watches steps rather than distance. Most importantly, the phone can stay in your pocket.
New entries as they ship. No spam — just the journey to launch and whatever the Shipaton throws at it.
