Privacy policy

Last updated: 31 August 2026

The short version. Mosey does not request your location, record GPS routes, sell personal data or use advertising trackers. Raw motion readings are processed on your device. To make accounts, progress, purchases and sync work, we do save the summaries and identifiers described below.

Who we are

Mosey is operated by Betafocus ("Mosey", "we", "us"). We are responsible for the personal data described in this policy.

Questions or privacy requests: privacy@heymosey.app.

What we save, and when

Account and identity

When you first use Mosey, Firebase creates an anonymous account identifier. If you later sign in with Apple or Google, Firebase also handles the identifier and basic account details that provider makes available. The name you type during onboarding is currently stored on your device.

Movement and listening

During a session, Mosey reads step and cadence signals on your device to control playback. We do not request location permission or collect GPS coordinates, routes or maps.

To save progress, calculate Miles and keep listening in sync, Mosey may send:

We also keep de-identified, aggregated episode totals. These do not include GPS data or a readable account ID.

On-device library

Followed shows, episode metadata, downloads, queue, preferences, session history, progress and generated Echoes are stored in the app's local storage so it can work offline. Depending on your system settings, Apple or Google may include app data in a device backup. Podcast searches and feed or audio requests go to Apple, publishers and their hosting providers, which receive normal network information such as your IP address.

Purchases

Apple or Google processes payment. RevenueCat receives your Mosey account identifier plus product, purchase, subscription and entitlement information so purchases and premium access work. We do not receive your full card details.

Devices and notifications

Mosey and Firebase may process a device identifier, notification token, platform, authentication tokens, IP address and basic request or error logs to sign you in, secure the service, sync data and deliver notifications.

Photos and sharing

A photo you choose or take for a share card is processed on your device. Mosey creates a temporary share file and sends it only to the app or person you choose through the system share sheet. Mosey does not upload the photo to our servers.

Website and launch list

Our hosting providers receive ordinary access logs when you visit heymosey.app. If you join the launch list, Tally processes the details you submit, such as your email address, so we can send the updates you requested. You can unsubscribe or ask us to delete a submission at any time.

Why we use it

We use this data to provide and secure Mosey, restore and sync progress, calculate rewards, manage accounts and subscriptions, send requested notifications, answer support requests and improve reliability. We do not sell personal data, share it for cross-context behavioural advertising or use it to track you across other companies' apps and websites.

Where GDPR or similar law applies, our legal bases are performing our agreement with you, our legitimate interests in operating and securing Mosey, your consent for optional permissions or communications, and compliance with legal obligations.

Who handles it

We use a small set of providers:

These providers process data under their own terms and privacy notices. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect users or the service, or as part of a business transfer with appropriate safeguards.

How long we keep it

Local app data remains until you remove it, delete your account data or uninstall the app, subject to any device backups managed by your operating-system provider. We start acting on a verified account-deletion request promptly and complete deletion from our active systems as soon as possible, no later than 15 days. Account-linked service data is otherwise kept while your account is active, except where we must retain limited security, fraud-prevention, tax or legal records. A one-way hashed deletion record and de-identified aggregate episode totals may remain.

Launch-list details are kept until you unsubscribe, ask for deletion or they are no longer needed for launch communications. Providers may retain backups for a limited recovery period under their own policies. Apple and Google may retain purchase records under their legal obligations.

Deleting a Mosey account does not cancel an App Store or Google Play subscription. Cancel it separately in your store subscription settings.

Your choices and rights

If data-protection law applies to you, you may also complain to your local supervisory authority. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.

Security and international processing

Mosey account and service data is sent using transport encryption. We also use authenticated access and service-provider safeguards designed to protect data. No system can promise absolute security. Our providers may process data in other countries; where required, we rely on recognised adequacy decisions or contractual safeguards.

Children and changes

Mosey is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. Contact us if you believe a child has provided data.

We may update this policy as Mosey changes. We will update the date above and give additional notice in the app when a change materially affects how personal data is used.
